Alright alright alright….

It has been so long without live music. Concerts are, have been and will continue to be a staple in my life. I need it I crave it I want it in my life. So to say it has been a long time is an understatement. We all know the past year has been insane.

So here we are heading to Iowa to see one of our favs Steel Panther. We bought tickets, gassed the car up and headed out. No idea how the mask mandate was in Iowa, what safety persuasions were there, we just had our masks on and headed to the first rock show in over 12 months.

The Paramount Theater is a great theater with plays event and concerts. More like your typical local orpheum type theaters. The seating was in pods of 4 and 2 and spread out all throughout the theater. It was great for watching not a person around ya. All spaced out, can put your jacket in the chair next to ya. The rules were masks on until sitting at seat. So we grabbed two beers and headed to our seats and took the masks off. It felt so good to be in the church of rock n roll again.

Steel Panther is from LA and take the heavy metal back and up a level to 1986 or 85 or 84 you get it. They are on their 5th studio album Heavy Metal Rules. As it stays with the same theme sound and vibe of the rest it is my least favorite album. DOn’t get me wrong it is still good I just prefer the other four much more. We had a ton of people contact us before the show that they were heading down to Iowa to check Panther out.

They played like they had not seen a crowd in 12 months. Well they did some here and there gigs while everything was closed but this was one of the first big shows since the lock down. Michael Starr sounded fantastic. I have seen Steel Panther mostly every time since 2010 when Feel the Steel came out. His vocals were spot on and very impressive tonight.

In the bass department Lexi was not there and a Nikki Sixx look a like was standing in, Spyder. They were riding him hard all night but he was a good sport and the jokes were great. Satchel wouldn’t stop with him. If you have never seen Steel Panther it is so much fun. Satchel and Michael have you rolling all night with rock star attitude and heavy metal attitude jokes. Stixx even gave us an impersonation of Rick Allen from Def Leppard. See the photos.

The setlist covered all their albums and a few covers. Crazy Train was great cause Michael did a great Ozzy. With the passing of EVH they covered Beautiful Girls, it was so good. Or maybe it was the dude who was running around that they kept calling David Lee Roth. They have stopped playing The Shocker which is such a classic. I do love Glory Hole and Death to all But Metal. Choosing from 5 albums has to be tough. See set list below.

Steel Panther always puts on a hell of a heavy metal party and should never be missed. They tour dates are stacking up so get out there and Yes BUY THOSE CONCER TICKETS.
