Now more than half-way through, day 7 at the Minnesota State Fair had both good weather and another substantial crowd. The main musical act was another heavy hitting throwback with plenty of well-known hits. Daryl Hall & John Oates performed their headlining show at the Grandstand for a capacity crowd that crossed several generations. Hall proved that he is still one of the standout voices in popular music and belted out song after song with precision and ease. Oates is a necessary piece of the duo providing harmonies and critical guitar parts. It was fun and a bit nostalgic to experience so many songs that were significant to the 70s & 80s sound every bit as good as they did back in the day.
G Love and Special Sauce warmed up the big stage with their own brand of soul infused rock to kick-off what was a solid and worthwhile offering.
