Michael Monroe – Whiskey A Go Go – West Hollywood California – February 11th 2016

The Whiskey A Go Go presents Rock N Roll legend Michael Monroe with special guests Hardcore Superstar.

Opening night of a two night stand.

Hardcore Superstar has not been on American soil for ten years until last year it was a pleasure to see them in the US.

Not knowing much of the band I was curious. Well they brought it and then some.

The band was fantastic and rocked the house. Everyone knew the songs and there was a lot of singing going on. They invited a couple of girls on stage to share some shots with the band.

I have never heard the band before so was excited to see them. Knew the name but had never listened to them. Well my mistake for not checking them out. The stand out songs I enjoyed were Last Call for Alcohol, Wild Boys, Don’t Mean Shit, and We Don’t Celebrate Sunday. My mistake for not checking them out for so long, well you have a new fan now!!!

I have never seen Michael Monroe and have never been to the Whiskey. We were in LA for 2 photo shoots and got lucky enough to review the show.

As the crowd cleared out to have smokes or get drinks I worked my way up front. Might as well get up front and rock out.

Michael Monroe has huge energy and it does not stop even at 53 years of age. Having been being in a band since 79 he knows how to entertain a crowd. I was right up front with a lot of true die hard fans. I heard people were there from Vegas, Japan and Minneapolis(myself).

Michael and the band did 17 songs in 80-85 minutes. Not much talkin’ just a lot of rocking.

Band consists of Rich Jones and Steve Conte on guitar, Karl Rockfist on drums and of Hanoi Rocks fame Sami Yaffa on bass. Michael and Sami have done a few bands together since the early eighties. They are in support of the new album Blackout States slated for later this year.

All of Michaels songs are a punky, heavy metal glam mix. Catchy licks and melodies that you can sign along with long after the show. I found myself remembering lyrics to songs I have not heard for while. He even climbed all over the club on the railings and speakers to get in with the crowd all night. Sure security and his manger are happy about that.

Michael Monroe is a legend that any heavy metal, punk, or rocker needs to see. Do not miss him on this short US tour.
