Kip Winger and Warrant – Medina, MN – February 28, 2015

Winger and Warrant are set to play the Medina Entertainment Center in Medina, Minnesota on February 28, 2015. All is well until the night prior when all of Winger (with the exception of Kip) gets stuck in Texas, due to an unforeseen winter storm. This makes for an interesting evening, considering the show was not cancelled. Instead, fans are greeted to a sign stating that the show would be acoustic. Being a fan of hard rock, it is really tough to walk into such a show seeing an sign like that and not cringe.

Kip Winger handled the situation like a true professional. There can be nothing more to be said regarding him that night. The venue was packed and there was plenty of complaining before it even started regarding the acoustic set. Kip walked onto stage and informed the crowd that he didn’t have his band or even his own instruments. He picked up an acoustic guitar and said that it wasn’t even his guitar, but he said that he was here for the audience, so, “Let’s jam”.

Such an entrance got the crowd going. He played numerous hits that enthralled the crowd, including “Headed for a Heartbreak”, “Madalaine”, “Can’t Get Enough” and more. During “Miles Away”, he pulled a girl up onstage to help him sing. That was such a great moment because she was simply ecstatic and could actually sing, which is a nice switch from when fans get pulled onstage at some shows.

Warrant is next and it is safe to say that they are not nearly as much fun as Kip Winger was. They have a feel to them as if they don’t want to be there. They play through numerous greatest hits, such as “Sometimes She Cries”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and, of course, “Cherry Pie”, but it’s difficult to top Kip Winger’s energy from the pervious set.
