Cheap Trick New Years Eve 12/31/19 @ Treasure Island Casino

I have so much I can say about the worlds greatest rock band Cheap Trick. Every show I see is an adventure because the have such a vast catalog of incredible songs and they are always diving into it. Yes they will always play the hits like “The Flame”, “Surrender”, “I Want You To Want Me” and “Dream Police”. Like all bands they have their must play list. But it goes so much further than that. I have been told they are the America Beatles and I believe that to be true.  Cheap Trick has the pop sensibilities of The Beatles and a body of work that surpasses them.

For me as a longtime fan, it’s the element of surprise. I never know what I will hear at any given show, last night was no exception. We were treated to several songs I do not hear them play very often. They included “Baby Loves To Rock”, “Sick Man Of Europe”, “On Top Of The World” “Magical Mystery Tour”. And a song the have never played live before a cover of Aerosmith’s “Rats In The Cellar”.

Over all like always, they were spot on. If you are a fan of rock music and you are not familiar with Cheap Trick, you owe it to yourself to check them out. They have been very consistent over the years and you could pick almost any album and find songs that you will fall in love with. Even on their most recent releases. Which is another reason to support this band. They are still writing and recording new music. And in my opinion some of the finest songs they have ever recorded. Curious about where to start? Try the 1997 self-titled album Cheap Trick or Bang Zoom, Crazy, Hello. You could also consider Next Position Please, Dream Police or One On One. No matter which one you give a go, you will instantly become a fan.
