Angels & Airwaves @ First Avenue 12/12/19 w/ The Social Animals
The Social Animals warmed up the crowd who have been waiting for the headliner to come back to the Twin Cities for almost 7 years. The are from Cloquet, MN which is a real surprise. I thought all they made there are hockey players. They are a relatively new band and did a good job. The songs were good but they lacked a bit in performance. Hopefully that will come as they continue to play in front of crowds.
Angels and Airwaves played to a packed house. To the point that you could not move, and that is not an exaggeration. Their songs are well crafted with a real pop driven edge. They played an 18 song set including some of their best songs including “Dry Your Eyes”, “Rebel Girl”, the latest single “Kiss and Tell”, “Do It For Me Now” and “Heaven”. They gave the crowd what they came for. People were really enjoying themselves, singing along to every song.
The band has not recorded a record since 2014’s The Dream Walker; that new LP is expected out in 2020 via Rise Records/BMG. In the mean time you can catch them out on the road. I have a feeling the next tour they will be playing in much larger venues.
